ABC Types & Developing New Base Collectives

An Autonomous Base Collective (ABC) is a self-determining community group that builds shared resources, skills, and supportive conditions while dismantling oppressive power relations. Multiple ABCs can overlap in the same city without competing for territory, and established collectives help nurture, assist, and scaffold emerging groups through five stages of autonomy toward full self-determination.

Start With 2–5 Peers & Design Around Volunteers

Emerging groups do not need a dozen full-time theorists to form an ABC. Start with 2 to 5 trusted local peers who act as systems engineers and process facilitators: discern concrete tasks, attend to them directly, and use clear METHOD-* guides to invite neighborhood volunteers into low-barrier entry points with a high ceiling.
